The Six Keys of Success -- October 1st--4th

Both you and your horse would greatly benefit from the clinic experience. Much of what you'll learn and what you'll be teaching your horse during the weekend centers around safety, communication and developing your leadership position in your relationship with your horse. Click Here to go to Ed's website for more info!

Yoga and Riding Fall 2009 -- October 22nd--25th

The Clinic is beautifully designed and balanced to be enriching and complete and also to allow some time for participants to enjoy the beauty and peace of Highland Ranch. Daily yoga classes will focus on alignment, strength, suppleness and breath that invite the body’s responsiveness and well being. Participants will then take this enlivened experience into the saddle for exercises and trail riding fostering a more conscious, open connection with our equine friends. New: Joey's Organic Gardening and Sustainability Tips

Tip: According to the Iroquois, beans, squash and corn are considered "The Three Sisters" as a planting triplet. Corn offers a natural pole for beans to climb, while beans stabilize the corn in windy conditions. Squash varities growing along the ground create a natural mulch for the corn and beans--reducing weeds, and decreasing water loss. Spiny squash stems also discourage some malicious insects from disrupting crop growth. Also, corn is a big nitrogen consumer and beans fix or add nitrogen to the soil. At the end of the growing season, the abundant leftover green scraps from these crops can be added back into the soil to increase organic material, in time reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers!

Plus: Squash, beans and corn are very easy and fun to start with kids!

May brings the end of frost for Mendocino County! We are planting more squash, beans and cucumbers daily! Come hang out between the windchimes and the apple blossoms!
